RAW FOOD DRIED FRUIT

We always have raw food dried fruit in our refrigerator! It is one of our daily staples, not only for snacking, but also for adding to many of our meals, such as our breakfast dishes or our smoothies or on top of our salads.

For example, before exercising in the morning, I usually make an electrolyte balancing banana-celery power smoothie with vegan protein powder, chia seeds, a little coconut oil and toss in a handful of dried goji berries, an amazing superfood!

I also love to add raisins and sunflower seeds or dried cranberries and walnuts to my salad creations, depending on the flavor I'm creating.

Dried dates are some of my very favorite snacks. To me, they taste just like ooey-gooey caramels, and I usually only need one or two after a meal to satisfy me if I'm in the mood for dessert. And they require no prep time at all!  Just eat!  They are extra yummy if I put them in a little dish of water and add a drop of Orange, Lemon, or Lime essential oil to soak them in. WOW! You can also blend soaked dates and make a date paste to use as a caramel dip for apples or as a date sauce in dessert recipes. 

We also tend to use dried fruit, such as raisins or dates, in place of sweeteners in recipes calling for honey or agave. The advantage to the dried fruit is that the sweetness comes with additional fiber and vitamins and minerals in the fruit. Plus, many of them are high in antioxidants, like goji berries or blueberries, and have amazing health benefits!

Could you imagine how healthy all the children of the world would be if they ate raw food dried fruit for snacks instead of candy bars or other sugar-laden, health-robbing, junk-food desserts? Let them try different kinds, such as dried blueberries, dried pineapple, dried apples, dried mangos and other varieties. That goes for you, too!
