A Tour of the Must-Have Products to Include in Your Raw Kitchen to Make Easy Raw Food Recipes

Below is a list of the standard raw food products we almost always keep on hand as seasoned raw foodists. Our raw food kitchen looks quite different than the one I grew up with! But much healthier, now.

Years ago, I followed Dr. Weil's 8 Weeks to Optimum Health: A Proven Program for Taking Full Advantage of Your Body's Natural Healing Power and began eliminating all the less-than-healthy items from my kitchen, including products with hydrogenated oils, artificial colorings and chemicals, etc.

So you wouldn't have found a jar of mayonnaise or bowl of jello in my fridge for many years now. But to look at our fridge and cupboards compared to that of perhaps our neighbors', you would think we were from a different planet!

Our Raw Fridge

Instead of using the crisper of the refrigerator for our fruits and veggies, the entire fridge is now our crisper – I mean every single shelf! Instead of jars and bottles and cans of expensive store-bought condiments filled with high fructose corn syrup and chemicals you can't even pronounce, we have just a few freshly homemade salad dressings and sauces made from healthy raw foods. And of course, you won't find a single pasteurized dairy product or slab of fatty bacon or tub of cool whip or jar of jelly or half used Ragu spaghetti sauce in there.

Instead of an entire pantry full of boxes of crackers, cereal and cake mixes and/or bags of white rice, noodles and potato chips and/or cases of cola, beer and fake juice drinks, we have just one shelf of one cupboard reserved for those few raw food products in jars that don't need to be refrigerated, like vinegar, honey and sea salt.

So outside of produce, nuts and seeds, we really don't buy very many products. But the raw food products we do buy tend to be from the health food store and are raw and/or organic and/or extra virgin and/or unpasteurized and may be different from those you are familiar with. So I have composed a little list of some of our favorite raw food products to introduce them to you, if you haven't met them already.
